1. AV construction issues are still up in the air. The BECK Loreto website is probably still the best source for information regarding this issue.
2. Golf Course - The golf course is still being maintained and looks beautiful. LBC officially ends its maintenance of the golf course today. However, I have confirmed through a couple of different sources that FONATUR will be taking over and continuing maintenance of the golf course.
3. Hotel. This is still closed. There is security around to make sure that no one tries to take advantage of the property situation. Don’t have pictures of the hotel as it is essentially fenced off right now. There are some rumors that FONATUR will take control of the hotel and reopen it. But, this rumor did not appear to be as concrete as the assumption of the golf course by FONATUR.
4. Met with Rodolfo today and it seems that Bahia Mgmt is moving along and signing up property owners. He seems fairly optimistic. They are also working on getting rental program together. But, it will be more limited in scope right now and it doesn’t appear that they will be taking as big of a cut as LBC was.
5. The Paseo still feels like a construction zone. Roads are basically dirt and there is no progress on this front. It is a bit quiet right now. There is some construction taking place on the custom homes, but nothing else right now. Have some pics and will send.
6. On a VERY positive note, the landscaping around the exterior of the homes looks fantastic! They did a great job around my home and your home and around the homes in our neighborhood. Have some pics and will send.
There is a lot of action surrounding the LBC bankruptcy right now. A lot of back and forth appears to be taking place and the government is heavily involved because Mexican mid-term elections are on Sunday I believe. So, the word on the street is that some major announcements should be taking place within the next couple of weeks.
Charlie (Jorge’s son) has the shack open Thurs, Friday, Sat, Sunday from 9-3. The kayaks are all locked together so you can’t just take one any more and he has to charge for them ($10 per person per hour) since they are no longer getting any subsidy from the Inn. We went out on Friday - beautiful, but not as many fish as usual. I think with the water warming up the reef population around Nopolo is changing just like the.
Are there any cabs in Nopolo? Answere from ANDREA ANDRADE
There are taxis at the airport those are about 250 or 300 pesos per person, quite expensive…
There has been talk that many would like to have some of the people from Loreto to set up there business in Nopolo/Loreto Bay. The cost of rent would not make it possible. But I think there should be an open area to allow vender’s to come in 2 days a week and sell there stuff! A farmers market and stands for there stuff that homeowners and guest might want to buy! I will post a photo of such an idea. Right now it could be at the large area that the workers get there lunch in Agua Viva. What do you think?
I feel it is time for me to exercise my right to free speech. I have no idea why Bill Doyle (and others?) are propagating this notion that I (the “Santa Barbara Architect’ or the Custom Home construction company that I myself and my partners own called Finton Construction Mexico (FCM)) have “cherry picked” certain AV homeowners and offered to complete their homes thus “interfering” with progress on a solution. That is a profoundly inaccurate, misleading, and hysterically alarmist statement by Bill. How in the world would we have the information to “cherry pick” anything? We are completely independent of the Loreto Bay Company and have no access to any contractual information regarding any Village Homes or any home of any type in Aqua Viva. Currently we are building two Custom Homes in Aqua Viva (AV90 for Bill and Julie Thompson AV176-177 for Shenton Oh.) Our company is a high quality custom home builder and we have never had any involvement in any way with anyone on any Village Home anywhere in the development!I suspect Bill’s comments may be a confused interpretation of an email announcement we sent regarding a FCM and Shubin and Donaldson Architects Custom Home house tour and open house party we hosted tonight in our Custom Home AV90 . This party was created to provide an evening with our friends, neighbors, clients, potential Custom Home clients, and anyone else living in the village who may have craved some community time during a time of turmoil.
In that email, we also announced that we are still in business building Custom Homes and since we are fully independent of the LBC, progress on our homes has not been affected the stop of work on Village Homes. I felt at the time this email was sent that it was important to let people know that there is some good news in the Village and that we have an excellent team that is still working! I received approximately 10 email responses which expressed relief to hear good things were going on in LB and another approx 4-5 emails from AV home owners asking in different ways if we were available to finish AV homes. My answer to each email was basically the same (and also consistent with my previous posts on this CLB site). I said that they should wait and see if there is a viable recommendation and strategy to finish their homes put forward in the immediate future and that if so that would be their best course of action. I have never spoken by phone to any AV homeowner, I have never received any information of any form from any AV homeowner and certainly I or FCM has never made any proposal to anyone in AV or any Village homeowner regarding completing their home! I think it is important to make this clear because I am concerned that Bill’s erroneous assertion may leave the lingering hope or doubt in peoples mind that there actually is some other solution. And that perhaps some of the other homeowners may have quietly worked out some kind of deal with another entity like FCM. My biggest concern is that Bill’s hysterical and unsubstantiated drivel on this account will do way more damage by confusing people with misinformation. I invite Bill (or any AV homeowner) to come forward with any information that support or substantiate Bills’ claims.
For the record: I and FCM support the BECK proposal. I and my partners have read the proposal, the questions and responses. We have been impressed by the calm professional tone, the reasonable and accurate content of the June 15th letter to Loreto Bay homeowners by Stan Barton. The questions raised by homeowners are good and address very tough issues but BECK’s responses have seemed reasonable and honest. They are a very solid company with a good reputation and most importantly they have actual experience in dealing with large complex Mexican construction challenges. They have the best chance and resources to sort all this out, and obviously they have the benefit of their prior experience here in Loreto Bay. As Stan said, he looks forward to doing it the BECK way and I suspect with LBC out of the way they should be able to do just that. Stan seems to provide good steady leadership qualities that will be needed going forward…and their fees seem very fair to boot! I want to remind everybody that I am a fellow homeowner and share a self interest with my neighbors to see all AV finished as soon as possible! Why would I compromise that? We need utilities to our Custom Homes we are building as well! We are not in the infrastructure business and hope Beck comes up with a solution for our clients on this issue as well.
Please feel free to email me or post comments to the Club Loreto Bay Forum: New TCC Update- 6/19 …I will respond ASAP, though we are all going fishing today for the day.

I don’t want to get anyone’s (including mine) hopes up prematurely, but I read this to mean that the INN is reopening today and that Fonatur is taking over operations. And it looks like Aeromexico may be resuming Mexico City-Loreto-San Diego service.
Can some of my fellow homeowners with better spanish reading skills confirm.
Perhaps those on the ground in Loreto can verify INN operations later today (Mon - 6/15)
If this is the case I know there are still plenty of questions to be answered.
I ran the article thru a translator. While not guaranteed a perfect translation, it is good enough to read.
Today the complex Loreto Bay will reopen its doors
By managements of NAM Foantur it will assume the operation and administration of the development in as much promotes its sale To request the governing Narcissus Agúndez Montaño, the national Direction the National Bottom of Tourism (Fonatur) will
assume as of this Monday the operation and administration of the hotel Loreto Inn and the golf course that comprise the tourist complex Loreto Bay, after which the company developer TDS Loreto partners declared bankruptcy and would come to its closing and dismissal from more than 400 workers; this in as much promotes its sale before national industralists or of the region with the purpose of to guarantee the reactivation of this real estate and tourist project.
The governing Agúndez Narcissus maintained to a meeting Cnn the chief of a main directorate of Fonatur Miguel Go’mez Mont, where the head of the state Executive left in clear
that the Government of the State will not allow the backward movement of Loreto as tourist destiny, and for that reason announced that once guaranteed the operation the hotel and of the golf course, in the month of July also resumes the flight
City of Mexico-Loreto-Saint Diego, through Aeromexico with the aim and to as much increase the flow of tourist of the rear area as the south of California towards this destiny. It explained that the commitment of Fonatur is to mediate with banamex City group to accelerate the process of sale of the Hotel, Golf course and residential zone that comprise of the complex Loreto Bay privileging to industralists of the region, the country and like last option of the foreigner.
“Most important of all this it is that the hotel will reinitiate operations this Monday and that the problem is solved and the preoccupation that had generated the closing of the golf course, since if this one practically does not receive the necessary maintenance it loses and a month less than. The golf course is attractive an important one in Loreto and its loss would be a hard blow del that hardly would recover this tourist destiny”, maintained the head of the state Executive.
The governing Agúndez Narcissus recognized that the takeoff of Loreto as tourist destiny has been difficult, mainly by the international and national financial crisis, factors as influenza human and the closing of flights towards the interior the country and the coast the West of the United States, to which it is added breaks of Fadesa and the suspension of the project of Loreto Paradise, and now the closing of Loreto Bay under the administration of TDS Loreto partners, branch of City group.
However, it reiterated that the loretanos are not single in their effort so that Loreto reaches a greater development through tourism, reason why is guaranteed the resumption of the flight City of Mexico-Loreto-Saint Diego, an aggressive campaign of promotion of its attractive and services in segments of good market defined and at the same time the opening of a new airport terminal, more functional and agreed to the image that is wanted to project.
“To the Government of the State the closing worried to him about the Golf course and the hotel Loreto INN. This problem already is resolute according to informs the director to us into the Fonatur Miguel Go’mez Mont”, emphasized Agúndez governor who similarly admitted that the challenge will be now to reactivate the part of the residential and real estate business of Loreto Bay to recover the uses ´perdidos with the suspension of the processes of construction and maintenance of residences, condominiums and commercial zone. Also,
it assured that the Government of the State will maintain the investment in infrastructure and n the improvement of the urban image of Loreto with the purpose of to continue generating the conditions for his tourist development.
He noticed that through the instances of labor competition, the Government the State will be kind to the processes of liquidation of the employees who were part of the construction of the residences and commercial zone of the project of Loreto Bay and that in their majority come from the rear area, for being engaged and brought to the be in favor of constructors who maintained relation with TDS Loreto Partners.
